About The Position

Works under the supervision of the Technical Director to perform technical theater services such as lighting and sound engineering, set design, and stage management for live performances, meetings/conferences, and events at the Farmington Civic Center, Sandstone Amphitheater at Lions Wilderness Park, and Totah Theater. The Totah Theater is also fitted with a full cinema package which is operated by the Technical Theater team. This role may involve setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting technical equipment, as well as assisting with stage setups and breakdowns.

Requirements

  • This position is subject to the City's Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Program. This includes: pre employment testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return-to-duty testing, and follow-up testing.
  • Extensive background checks required.
  • Valid New Mexico Drivers license is required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in performance productions preferred.
  • Ability to work a varied work schedule to include evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment listed.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate lighting and sound equipment.
  • Adjust lighting cues in collaboration with the lighting designer.
  • Assist in mixing sound and balancing levels for microphones, speakers, and effects.
  • Troubleshoot lighting and sound issues during rehearsals and performances.
  • Maintain lighting and sound equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Assist with building and maintaining sets.
  • Move and adjust props, furniture, and equipment during performances.
  • Set up and manage stage entrances and exits for actors.
  • Assist with rehearsals to ensure the technical aspects are aligned with the director's or organizer's vision.
  • Collaborate with designers, directors, and other technical staff to ensure smooth execution of the production.
  • Work with and assists the Civic Center staff in operation and troubleshooting of the Audio/Video systems in the exhibition halls.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Using excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public.
  • Acts as a community contact and representative of the City of Farmington.
  • Operates a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the City.
  • Set up and tear down of equipment for events, including electrical, sound and stage.
  • Assists in maintaining continuity of the show.
  • Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.
