About The Position

The Theater Manager assists in carrying out the mission, vision and values of REH through the on‐site management of the facility, including front‐of‐house event and administrative operations of the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • Three to five years’ experience in in-person customer service in the entertainment industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully meeting fiscal responsibilities in prior positions (i.e. budget formation, invoicing/collection, lease management, etc.)
  • Two years’ experience in supervising staff and/or volunteers.
  • Understanding of theater operations, specifically in event planning, facility coordination and customer service.
  • Ability to deal appropriately and professionally with artists and their representatives, road personnel, union members, staff, vendors and patrons.
  • Ability to prepare and manage rental contracts and invoices and manage client relationships.
  • Excellent customer service skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to anticipate problems or to identify them before significant impact on service delivery, expenses or revenues.
  • Proficient in word‐processing, spreadsheet, database and scheduling software.
  • Commitment to the principles of teamwork and shared responsibility.
  • Ability to multi‐task and meet simultaneous deadlines.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate people, tasks and projects for efficiency.
  • Ability to handle confidential conversation, correspondence and records.
  • Ability to relate to a diverse group of people including staff, board members, educators, students, community leaders and residents.
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as copier, fax machine, telephone, computer and printers.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • Ability to access all sound, lighting and stage areas and equipment
  • Ability to drive.
  • Ability to maintain good attendance is a condition of employment and a function of this position.
  • Ability to travel locally.
  • Ability to drive with valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with a concentration in event management, arts administration, nonprofit management or business management.
  • Experience in technical theater or producing live events is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise use of facility, particularly during events as the lead person on‐site for any issues and proactively coordinate staff activity to ensure that the guest experience meets or exceeds Ruth Eckerd Hall standards.
  • Effectively communicate with department managers to facilitate and support the satellite operations of their respective staff assigned to Capitol events.
  • Assist as an on‐site operational coordinator when needed for special events held at the downtown location including street festivals, fundraisers etc.
  • Field calls, provide cost estimates, confirm, contract, coordinate and prepare settlements for all rentals.
  • Coordinate arrangements for movies to be shown at the Capitol in cooperation with programming.
  • Ensure all activities scheduled at the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre are included in the organizational online calendar.
  • Coordinate with the marketing team to ensure programs, schedules and posters are replenished at the theatre as well as with downtown partners.
  • Act as public liaison and compliance representative for the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre.
  • Meet with interested parties and local organizations, to represent the Capitol in the downtown community.
  • Conduct tours to highlight facility to donors, officials and the public.
  • In cooperation with the Vice President of Event Operations, maintain a schedule of capital replacement and improvements and advise in creation of capital budget as it relates to the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre.
  • Work closely with environmental operations and custodial personnel in detailing maintenance requirements for the facility.
  • Monitor overhead expenses including utilities, supplies, and maintenance costs.
  • Enforce health, safety and policy compliance.
  • Professionally represent Ruth Eckerd Hall at all times
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and select holidays
  • Complete all other duties as assigned
