About The Position

Summer Program Theater Director Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the summer theater program, including curriculum planning, staff supervision, budget management, and program execution. Key duties include developing and teaching theater lessons, directing rehearsals and final productions, managing daily logistics, and ensuring a safe and positive environment for participants and staff. This role requires strong leadership, creativity, problem-solving skills, and experience in both theater and working with young people.

Requirements

• Previous experience in theater performance and directing.
• Experience working with children and young people in an educational setting is essential.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are necessary.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of theater-based curricula is preferred.
• An undergraduate degree in theater or education is often preferred but not always required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee all classes, performances, and programs.
• Ensure the curriculum is age-appropriate and aligns with the organization's goals.
• Teach theater lessons, lead games, and direct rehearsals and final productions.
• Supervise and evaluate instructors, staff, and interns, providing guidance and feedback.
• Lead staff meetings.
• Oversee students and maintaining a positive learning environment, and addressing any disciplinary issues.
• Manage budget, handle supply ordering, and assist with administrative tasks related to the program.
• Facilitate auditions, create lesson and rehearsal plans, and manage production needs for the final show.
