About The Position

North Hennepin Community College, one of the most diverse and vibrant two-year colleges in Minnesota, is accepting applications for a fixed-term, full-time Theatre Faculty for a two-year position. The Theatre, Film, and Television Department at NHCC seeks an innovative instructor dedicated to excellence in teaching. Candidates will desire to become part of a creative, energetic, student-centered academic team to consistently deliver high-quality content to students interested in pursuing their AFA in Theater, along with offering theatre and experiential learning classes that embrace diverse and inclusive programming. The successful candidate will: Be dedicated to excellence in teaching and have the desire to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. Be committed to student success and persistence. Teach with an inclusive and equity-minded approach. Teach a broad spectrum of theatre courses. Teach in-person as well as alternative delivery modes, including but not limited to asynchronous online and hybrid formats. Develop and revise instructional and assessment materials. Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes. Participate in department, division, and college matters through service on committees and attendance at regular meetings. Maintain continued professional development in Theatre as well as in the areas of teaching and learning. Be flexible to teach during the day, evening, and weekends. Salary Range: Salary is commensurate with education and experience and is determined by the salary placement process as outlined in the bargaining unit agreement. Entry-level range is $51,303 - $94,542 for a nine-month academic year, plus excellent benefits. Full-time, unlimited faculty work 171 days during a nine-month academic year and receive excellent benefits, including health insurance (95% employer paid single premium or 90% employer paid family premium); life insurance; optional dental, short-and long-term disability and long-term care insurance; paid personal and sick leave; defined benefits and defined contribution (401(a) retirement plans); tuition waiver for employees and dependents; and optional 457 and 403(b) retirement savings plans. Under the collective bargaining agreement with the Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF), new faculty to the system receive a salary placement based on education and related experience after accepting a job offer. The maximum salary at hire is $94,542 per academic year, depending on education and experience. Requirements

  • Master's degree in Theatre/Theatre Arts, or Master's degree in any discipline/field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in Theatre/Theatre Arts.
  • Cover letter of interest addressing your qualifications for this position.

  • Applicants with degrees from non-U.S. educational institutions or programs will need to submit a foreign credentials evaluation (FCE) as a condition of hire.

  • Experience as a primary instructor teaching a variety of college-level Theatre Arts courses for both beginning and advanced students.
  • Knowledge of contemporary teaching/learning techniques for undergraduate success in Theatre Arts.
  • Experience and background in directing, design, and acting.
