About The Position

At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Radiation Therapist II, is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population. The incumbent will be a member of our radiation oncology clinical team. This person is responsible for administering daily treatment on Varian accelerators to patients using various treatment techniques along with simulating and scheduling patient for treatments. This person reports directly to the Assistant Director of Radiation Therapy. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence. Duties of a TH Radiation Therapist II in the Radiation Oncology Department may include the following but are not limited to: Treatment Responsibilities: Deliver prescribed therapeutic doses of radiation in accordance with physician orders. Correctly prepare, operate and monitor radiotherapy equipment and accessories. Interpret portal vision films and on board imaging. Prepare immobilization devices and bolus material. Assist in clinical instruction of students. Scheduling: Perform daily review of all new patient and cone down data in the record and verify system. Arrange daily appointments for treatments and simulations. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke free environment. Anticipated Pay Range: The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $47.76 / hr The above salary range represents SBUH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate’s validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired. Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved program in Radiation Therapy
  • NYS license or Temp license in radiation therapy
  • Member of ASRT and ARRT

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Varian Accelerators, CT simulations and ARIA record and verify system.
  • Experience performing various treatments to include SBRT, IMRT, HDR and SRS.
  • Minimum 2 year experience.
