About The Position

Under the supervision of the Chief Radiation Therapist, the Radiation Therapist delivers prescribed radiation dose to patients, as determined by radiation oncologist. Patient Population ranges from young adulthood through late adulthood. Job Description PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Meets all standards of our mission “We Improve Lives” and our values in order to make JNJ the hospital of choice for patients and employees. Prepares patient for radiation treatment according to chart directions with a high degree of accuracy to ensure appropriate radiation delivery. Performs simulation on patients for the purpose of setting up daily radiation treatments with a high degree of accuracy as prescribed by the radiation oncologist. Delivers radiation treatments to appropriate patients according to chart specifications with high degree of accuracy utilizing verification or port films/digital images to document radiation placement to ensure high quality of Patient care. On initial treatment visit and subsequent visits, as outlined in policy and procedure manual, determines treatment accuracy utilizing verification or port films to document radiation placement to ensure high quality patient care. Schedules patients utilizing radiation oncology computer system according to guidelines developed by Chief Radiation Therapist thereby ensuring efficient patient throughput. Documents simulation and treatment data in patient chart to assure compliance with radiation oncology prescription. Maintains daily statistics for review with Chief Radiation Therapist and various administrative personnel and other agencies to assist in planning for the future needs of department. Utilizes department and hospital computer systems to accurately enter charges and other patient information resulting in the appropriate billing and tracking. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years previous radiation therapy experience preferred.
  • Graduate of AMA approved radiation therapy school required.
  • Must be registered or eligible.
  • Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the State of NJ.
