Job Summary: To process and distribute linen to designated areas associated with Cayuga Medical Center as well as effectively provide Person Centered care and services.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Must be able to read, understand and comply with material safety data sheets and cleaning chemical hazard warnings
  • Standing for long periods of time, lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, pushing, pulling and reaching. Primary work location may include loud noises, wet and slippery conditions, exposure to sharp objects. A licensed ability to drive may be necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains clean linen for our patients, visitor and staff.
  • Loads and exchanges linen carts.
  • Maintains accurate par levels, fills all outside orders and labels them appropriately.
  • Check chemicals, check and clean drain daily, clean dryer vents daily and wipe down washers.
  • Textile Services will physically check all patient lifts for strength and durability so that the patient can be safely moved from place to place. The lifts are numbered when they are checked, and They are recorded in the textile area. If the lift is defective, the lift is then taken out of service and will be replaced by the nursing department.
  • These are followed and understood. PPE, chemicals, removal of trash and linen.
  • Attends staff meetings, rounds and communicates with supervisor.
  • Unload all carts from Ames and put linen in the appropriate place. Do a daily count sheet and fax it to Ames.
  • Sweep, mop and trash taken out. Vacuum of dryer done twice a week.
  • Willing to be flexible and make changes as needed. To provide our customers with the best care we can give.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn. We need to be receptive to new ideas and change. As Cayuga Medical Center grows so must we.
