About The Position

Implements and teaches educational programs, courses, experiences, and services that will directly aid teacher candidates in achieving educational objectives; maintain regular office hours and assists in curriculum development and planning aligned to educator certification requirements.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of policies, regulations, educational master plan.
  • Labor market conditions and demographic composition of the community's population.
  • Principles and techniques of teaching adult learners and pre-service teacher candidates.
  • Requirements for academic subjects and certification testing frameworks (e.g., TExES).
  • Communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Establish effective relationships with teacher candidates, faculty, staff, and the business community.
  • Familiarity with internalization of managed curriculum.
  • Interpret, apply, and explain regulations, policies, and procedures related to educator preparation and certification.
  • Plan and organize the programs and activities assigned.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Effectively using interpersonal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to provide actionable feedback aligned to instructional best practices (e.g., T-TESS, HLPs).
  • Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software (e.g., Google Workspace, Blackboard, learning management systems).
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation for local Austin area travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching or supporting adult learners or teacher candidates preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred in education or related field

Responsibilities

  • Teaches courses as assigned which correlate with the catalog descriptions and course outlines and in a manner designed to assist the teacher candidate to achieve the specific objectives of the course and Texas educator certification standards (TAC/TEA requirements).
  • Advises teacher candidates of requirements established by the instructor for meeting course objectives and certification benchmarks (e.g., testing, FBE hours).
  • Periodically examines and informs each teacher candidate of their progress toward achieving course objectives and certification readiness milestones.
  • Prepares and administers examinations and/or performance-based assessments established for the subject area of assignment.
  • Participates in evaluations of curriculum and instruction to ensure alignment with TEA standards and program outcomes.
  • Participates in the evaluation of instructional materials including high-quality instructional materials and certification-aligned resources.
  • Supports integration of Field-Based Experience (FBE) expectations within coursework, as applicable.
