About The Position

Guarantee the effective execution of the House Bill 2 Texas Mathematics Academy mandates. This entails furnishing regional leadership, conducting staff development sessions, and delivering instructional coaching tailored to K-3 mathematics. The overarching aim is to enhance the capacity of Texas Mathematics Academy participants in mathematics instruction and equip them with best practices for optimal outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification in mathematics or core subject (EC–6, 1–6, 4–8, or K–8)
  • Team-oriented attitude and desire to work collaboratively with ESC staff and campus/district/charter school personnel.
  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technology integration skills.
  • Ability to create and provide professional development based on predetermined material or resources.
  • Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness.
  • Understand differentiated instruction to ensure success for all students.
  • Ability to facilitate learning experiences using appropriate TEA projects and resources.
  • Demonstrate mastery of Texas Mathematics Academies course content.
  • Depth of knowledge in adult learning theory.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement instructional practices that increase student achievement.
  • Ability to manage self-directed projects.
  • Five years of experience teaching mathematics (K-8)
  • Three years of experience facilitating mathematics professional learning
  • Strong understanding of K-5 TEKS and research-based instructional strategies

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of job-specific content, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills or State Guidelines, the state assessment and accountability system, and state initiatives and standards.
  • Attend Cohort Leader Trainer sessions
  • Lead in-person or synchronous learning for Modules 1 and 2
  • Facilitate asynchronous learning for Modules 3, 4, and 5
  • Guide content discussion and provide feedback to learners
  • Create a community of mathematics educators
  • Provide individualized support through optional office hours and mandatory virtual coaching
  • Grade all participant artifact submissions
  • Provide feedback and additional support as needed
  • Ensure fidelity of content delivery and program requirements
  • Provide effective leadership to all stakeholders.
  • Facilitate professional learning and provide technical assistance to campuses/districts/ charter schools.
  • Know research supporting effective lesson design to support learners and demonstrate and understand of TEKS/Guideline-based instruction.
  • Demonstrate a skillset of research-based instructional coaching and adult learning theory.
