About The Position

To test and package new generation reverse osmosis membrane elements. This will include many unit operations including loading elements, taking measurements, preparing test solutions and final packaging of the elements. Cross training will also be required for other element manufacturing steps such as 3D printer operation, element rolling and trimming, fiberglass wrapping.

  • Trouble-shoot and basic repair of custom-made equipment with help from Production Engineering
  • Understanding of the application of the technology to ensure quality and repeatability in printing process
  • Multi-tasking to be able to test elements and assist in other operation tasks as needed
  • Position requires standing and moving most of the day

Responsibilities

  • Test and evaluate various element configurations in support of ongoing R&D
  • Test each product to ensure performance meets internal specifications
  • Load/unload elements into test stands
  • Measure and record operating data from elements in test
  • Input data into central files
  • Measure and mix salt solutions for testing
  • Operation of pumps, values and instruments as needed to test elements
  • Operation of reverse osmosis machines as needed to test elements
  • Participate in RO element autopsies and evaluation of failed elements
  • Operating and maintaining polymer printing process
  • Measure and cut membrane leaves from rolls based on production order
  • Load and unload materials into printing system
  • Assemble and roll spiral wound reverse osmosis elements using printed leaves
  • Operate both automated and manual rolling and gluing processes
  • Operate manual and automated cut-off tools to finish elements after rolling
  • Operate semi-automated fiberglass wrapping system for element structure
  • Daily activities could include all unit operations or only one
