About The Position

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Testing Manager - Aftermarket Service oversees Testing of completed products in the shop prior to shipment and field, as required, to ensure that systems, equipment, and components meet design specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements before shipment to the customer. The role manages multidisciplinary teams responsible for planning, executing, documenting, and reporting FAT and Commissioning-(Cx) activities in support of the Production, Quality, Engineering and Field Service teams. The Testing Manager ensures testing efficiency, compliance, safety, and customer satisfaction through structured procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in the accomplishment of duties.
  • Highschool diploma; or equivalent
  • OSHA 10/30
  • 10 Years experience in Controls or Process Automation
  • Experience in a manufacturing and/or construction environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Proficient in Adobe/Revue(Bluebeam)
  • Proficient in understanding and interpreting schematic drawings.
  • Must be detailed and organized with ability to multi-task effectively on multiple projects.
  • Proficient in understanding and following mechanical and electrical safety procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of Packaged Rotating Equipment and Associated Systems
  • Ability to read and understand Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams(PID’s) as well as Electrical and Controls Drawings
  • Strong Electrical & Instrumentation background; Particularly with Process Automation, PLC’s, VFD’s, & Power Distribution Systems
  • Quality, Inspections Experience
  • Startup & Commissioning Experience with Industrial Equipment & Systems
  • PMPT Certification
  • Experience on projects valued over $100MM

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the FAT staff, including test engineers, technicians, 3rd party testing agencies, equipment sub-vendors and support personnel.
  • Develop and implement strategies aligned with company goals, project schedules, and quality standards.
  • Maintain a shared team calendar for all awarded projects
  • Facilitate Internal Weekly Coordination Meetings with the FAT Team Leads, Operations and Project Management to ensure coordination and readiness of testing on a minimum 2-week look-ahead basis.
  • Schedule and coordinate FAT activities with external teams and customer representatives.
  • Review resource allocations, workload planning, and staffing requirements to meet project timelines with Department leadership
  • Review and provide input to Quality for Inspection Test Plans (ITP), checklists & forms, system design documents, control schematics, and functional specifications to define FAT activities.
  • Develop detailed FAT procedures, test scripts, and acceptance criteria in collaboration with Engineering, Operations, 3rd Parties and Quality.
  • Ensure all test setups, instrumentation, and documentation are ready prior to testing.
  • Circulate final test reports and punchlist to key stake holders for agreement
  • Ensure Corrective Action Reports(CAR) and Supplier Corrective Action Reports(SCAR) are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Follow up to ensure site activity schedules are accurate.
  • Report & discuss inspection results(Punchlists, CAR’s, SCAR’s) with department and program leadership for recommended necessary corrective actions or prevention plan options.
  • Maintain analytic FAT dashboards.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure FATs comply with contractual, regulatory, and internal quality standards (ISO, ASME, API, NETA, etc., as applicable).
  • Verify test data integrity and maintain proper documentation and traceability of results.
  • Approve and release FAT reports and certificates of compliance.
  • Act as the in-shop point of contact for customers and/or customer representatives during FAT activities.
  • Coordinate FAT witness schedules, and documentation with Project Management Team.
  • Gather customer feedback to improve FAT performance and satisfaction.
  • Analyze department performance metrics (test success rate, rework, on-time completion, etc).
  • Implement process improvements, test automation, and digital documentation tools.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on FAT progress, issues, and departmental KPIs.
  • Contribute to cross-departmental initiatives to improve overall project delivery and quality.
