About The Position

Teledyne Qioptiq Miamisburg is looking for a hands-on Test Systems Technician to provide support for its destructive (D-Test) and non-destructive test (NDT) department. The NDT/D-Test group supports all production and development products for the site. Testing processes include environmental conditioning, Live Fire testing of electronic fusing and other detonating devices, as well as various non-destructive electronic testing of product. Work may also include cross training to support the ESS test facilities. Handling of explosive components will be required. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a cross functional team and will be reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/Certificate required. Associate degree in an engineering discipline is preferred;
  • Experience in a Destructive/Non-Destructive or EES testing environment a plus;
  • Ability to follow, understand, and execute detailed test procedures is required;
  • Good hand-eye coordination and mechanical skills is required;
  • Excellent time-management skills and commitment to meet deadlines is required;
  • Ability to lift 40lbs and stand for extended periods of time is required;
  • Experience with soldering of electronics is a plus;
  • Experience with multiple electrical testing equipment; oscilloscope operation and other such data acquisition devices is a plus;
  • Proactive communication and interpersonal skills while working in cross-functional teams;
  • Strong judgment and decision making skills;
  • Active DOD/DOE Clearance a plus. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain clearance;
  • Please note due to the requirements from the Department of Energy, U.S. CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with and oversee day to day D-Test operations and support NDT processing for both production and development products.
  • Provide test setup and setup support (soldering and mechanical assembly) for destructive test (D-LAT and engineering tests);
  • Determines proper test set-ups, tests, troubleshoots, and notifies appropriate personnel when problems arise as necessary;
  • Prepares graphs, charts and tabulations of testing data, maintains testing data and analyzes data under guidance of an engineer;
  • Performs routine analyses to check applicability, accuracy and completeness of data;
  • Calibrates, adjusts, operates and maintains environmental test equipment as required;
  • Conduct production destructive tests and document all test results as required;
  • Conduct tear downs of explosive test samples as required – this will involve light machining work using manual lathe;
  • Investigates process and manufacturing problems during testing and initiates corrective actions;
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team test personnel, engineering, quality and customers as required;
  • Document all D-Test results, generate and provide test reports to program teams as required.
