About The Position

The Test Lead is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive testing strategy to ensure a high-quality, defect-free deployment of the Workday. This role oversees all phases of testing across the project, ensuring alignment with the enterprise testing framework while coordinating testing activities across business, technical, and vendor teams. The Test Lead will evaluate and enhance existing testing artifacts, refine the testing strategy and plan, and lead the execution of system, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing. The role is critical in ensuring that systems, enterprise applications, and business processes integrate seamlessly with Workday while minimizing risks and ensuring operational readiness for go-live. The Test Lead will collaborate closely with the Project Manager, enterprise program stakeholders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and technical teams to drive testing readiness, manage defects, and support cutover planning and implementation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in software testing leadership for large-scale enterprise implementations.
  • Proven experience leading testing efforts for ERP or large SaaS implementations (e.g., Workday).
  • Extensive experience developing test strategies, test plans, and risk-based testing frameworks.
  • Strong expertise in test automation frameworks, scripting languages, and automated testing tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (ADO) for test management and defect tracking.
  • Demonstrated experience with integration testing, API testing, and data migration testing.
  • Experience managing end-to-end testing across complex system integrations.
  • Strong experience with cutover planning and go-live readiness processes.
  • Strong analytical skills for identifying risk areas and defining appropriate testing coverage.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight timelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience supporting large government or public-sector ERP transformation programs.
  • Experience with Workday implementations, particularly financial modules.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain the Testing Strategy and Test Plan aligned with the enterprise testing framework.
  • Implement a risk-based testing approach prioritizing business-critical workflows, high-risk integrations, and mission-critical financial processes.
  • Define test metrics, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms to measure testing effectiveness and progress.
  • Establish test governance, processes, and documentation standards.
  • Coordinate testing activities across program teams, and vendors.
  • Utilize Azure DevOps (ADO) to track test progress, execution status, and defect trends.
  • Design and maintain testing dashboards and reports for stakeholders and leadership.
  • Identify and prioritize high-risk scenarios, critical integrations, and key business processes requiring enhanced testing coverage.
  • Monitor and adjust test scope and priorities based on evolving program guidance, risks, and project changes.
  • Define testing coverage objectives for end-to-end, integration, functional, performance, and user acceptance testing.
  • Develop and maintain test cases supporting Workday functionality, legacy system remediation, new business processes, and system integrations.
  • Identify and develop supplemental test cases addressing scenarios not covered by test scenarios.
  • Maintain a centralized test repository in Azure DevOps for test case management and traceability.
  • Develop and maintain a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) linking requirements, risks, and test cases.
  • Facilitate formal review and approval of test cases with SMEs, project leadership, and stakeholders prior to execution.
  • Plan and coordinate execution of all testing activities across multiple testing phases including: System Testing Integration Testing Regression Testing User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Coordinate with business SMEs to execute test scenarios reflecting real-world business workflows.
  • Develop and manage a structured process for consolidating test execution results and reporting progress.
  • Establish defect severity levels, prioritization rules, and escalation procedures.
  • Manage the full defect lifecycle including logging, assignment, tracking, retesting, and closure.
  • Conduct regular defect triage meetings and coordinate resolution with development and technical teams.
  • Provide testing status updates, defect summaries, and risk assessments to project leadership.
  • Define requirements for test environments and test data to support all planned testing activities.
  • Coordinate environment setup, configuration, and availability with technical teams.
  • Develop and manage test data preparation processes ensuring coverage of key business scenarios and integrations.
  • Ensure test data reflects realistic production-like scenarios while complying with security and privacy requirements.
  • Monitor environment stability and readiness prior to test execution.
  • Identify and escalate risks related to environment availability, integrations, or data readiness.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate test automation tools and frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts supporting regression and continuous integration testing.
  • Integrate automation into the overall testing lifecycle to increase efficiency and coverage.
  • Focus automation on high-risk, repetitive, and regression-heavy scenarios.
  • Track automation performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with governance requirements for AI-enabled or automated testing tools.
  • Provide testing inputs to support cutover planning and go-live readiness decisions.
  • Align testing activities with the Program cutover timeline and milestones.
  • Participate in cutover planning sessions, mock cutovers, and execution activities.
  • Provide testing status, risk summaries, and defect closure reports to support go/no-go decisions.
  • Ensure testing exit criteria are met prior to go-live, including: Completed and validated RTM UAT results reviewed and approved All defects resolved or dispositioned Formal test sign-off
  • Coordinate with system owners, SMEs, and program teams to ensure readiness for production deployment.
