About The Position

As technology leader in high voltage bushings, the Trench brand HSP drives the energy transition. HSP US in Charlotte will be the first U.S.-based manufacturing plant of Trench Group. Starting operations in early 2026 the plant will manufacture dry-type bushings (RIS/RIP) with voltages up to 800 kV for the North American market. It will feature full vertical integration and will house one of the most modern and high-performance high-voltage test laboratories in the region. Trench Group will invest more than $60 million in establishing a facility that will manufacture cutting-edge technology to support the expansion of the U.S. power grid infrastructure. Your Mission As the Test Lab Technician (m/f/d), you will be responsible for defining and executing a best-in-class digitalization strategy across our global manufacturing network. You will drive the transformation towards fully integrated, state-of-the-art Manufacturing 4.0 operations, leveraging ERP, APS, MES, manufacturing applications, and advanced automation technologies.

Requirements

  • Community College diploma in Electrical/Electronic or associate’s electrical certification is required.
  • Active listening and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis techniques.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment.
  • 2+ years relevant experience with hands-on experience working on LV or HV circuit preferred.
  • Critical thinking and knowledge in electromagnetic theory and circuit analysis is required.
  • Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office and Windows operating system is required. Familiarity with LabView and other industry-wide lab software would strongly be preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical AC & DC schematics is required.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy electrical test equipment or components (up to 40 lbs) is required.
  • Working at height and using elevating platforms is a mandatory requirement of this job and will be evaluated during the selection process.
  • Able to work on a shift rotation as required.
  • English language proficiency with fluency in read, write and speak in English language required.
  • Ability to distinguish the difference between the colors is required.
  • Familiar with required international standards are strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of high voltage products and production processes preferable.
  • Experience using test instruments such as Impedance Analyzer, Voltage Breakdown Tester, Power Wattmeter, Micro Ohmmeter and Oscilloscope is preferable.
  • Familiarity with LabView and other industry-wide lab software would strongly be preferred.
  • Familiar with required international standards are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Test execution and conduct high voltage tests according to established procedures and standards as determined by Technical Documentation and guidance of test lab managing team. This includes setting up and calibrating test equipment, applying high voltage, and monitoring equipment performance.
  • Accurately record test data for analysis. This includes measurements of voltage, current, and time, as well as any observations during the test.
  • Prepare test reports that include a summary of the test procedures, data, and results. Communicate results effectively to engineers, other team members and supervisors.
  • Create and develop test procedures and protocols for high voltage equipment.
  • Ensure and follow all safety procedures when handling high voltage equipment. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and ensuring that all safety interlocks and procedures are followed.
  • Verify the safety and efficiency of test lab environment for other team members.
  • Evaluate test results and assess the performance of the equipment under test.
  • Provide support and assistance in laboratory environments with assembly of test products and objects.
  • Monitor the condition of test equipment and facilities to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Report any issues or anomalies detected during testing to the appropriate personnel.
  • Support the team in achieving daily production quotas.
