About The Position

North American Lighting Inc., membear of the Koito Group of Companies, is the largest tier one automotive exterior lighting manufacturer in North America. As the market share leader in exterior automotive lighting, NAL provides advanced lighting technology, engineering design expertise, and state-of-the-art production capabilities to auto makers based in North America and around the world. North American Lighting (NAL) is looking for a Test Lab Engineer - II to join our team. The ideal candidate will be the technical support and communication link between the Quality Lab Dept. and the New Product Launch Teams. They will coordinate and ensure all requirements for Performance testing are in place, tracked, and meeting New Launch program milestone timing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline, plus 3 - 5 years of experience in new product development and launches OR
  • Associate's degree in related discipline, plus 5 - 7 years of working experience within an automotive test lab that focuses on new product development and launch.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in exterior automotive lighting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs the Engineering lead role to coordinate the testing of lighting products in accordance with established company, customer, industry, and regulatory standards and specifications.
  • Ensure all necessary lamp specific testing information and test equipment/ test stands is provided to Quality Labs in order for lab personnel to efficiently complete requested testing in a timely manner.
  • Establishes regular meetings with new launch teams and serves as the main contact for communication with program teams for Koito design projects that will require DV testing and PV testing.
  • Attends new launch Design Reviews through all stages of new product development to obtain and understand new program timing, Lamp Design details, and Performance Test Spec. Requirements.
  • Communicates Qty. of required test parts to the New launch team, tracks the build of those test parts, confirms accuracy of the test parts, and finally submits the test parts to the lab with required Work Orders.
  • Ensures test completion timing adherence to new project plan and schedule by attending New Launch team meetings, generating follow-up documents, managing open issues, and soliciting management support as needed in overcoming problems.
