About The Position

The Test Equipment Engineer III will be responsible for identifying, integrating, and testing hardware and software that enables aerospace physiology research supporting a gas phase sensor research laboratory. This position will be responsible for maintaining laboratory test equipment such as mass flow controllers, pressure transducers, gas sensors, etc. by keeping calibration logs, performing device validation and organizing service. They will track gas standards, coordinating disposal and ordering replacements as necessary. They will assist researchers by helping to prepare and perform experiments as requested. They will be required to keep diligent records about operations.

Requirements

  • M.S. in chemistry, physics, engineering or related field with 5 years of practical experience OR B.S. in engineering, physiology or related field with 10 years of practical experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of laboratory management practices
  • Experience with gas-phase sensing
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Experience with acquiring, installing and maintaining test equipment to meet project needs.
  • Experience with collection and analysis of large datasets, including data communication protocols and data analysis protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to write reports, SOPs, and test documentation.
  • Clearance Level No Clearance
  • ITAR Requirement: This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction. Please understand that any job offer that requires approval of an export license will be conditional on AeroVironment’s determination that it will be able to obtain an export license in a time frame consistent with AeroVironment’s business requirements. A “U.S. person” according to the ITAR definition is a U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or protected individual such as a refugee or asylee. See 22 CFR § 120.15. Some positions will require current U.S. Citizenship due to contract requirements.
