About The Position

DESE Research, Inc. is seeking qualified candidates to fill a Test Equipment Design Engineer position. If you feel like you have the skills and qualifications for this job, please apply now! The candidate will design, document, and support test equipment used for avionics system verification, environmental testing, and subsystem evaluation. This position requires the ability to interpret system requirements, develop electrical and wiring diagrams, create assembly documentation, and support hardware integration activities. The candidate will work closely with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure test hardware meets performance, safety, environmental, and schedule requirements. A successful candidate will be flexible, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple hardware domains in an agile team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or relevant field
  • Experience reading, creating, or modifying electrical diagrams or engineering drawings
  • Familiarity with avionics systems, electrical power systems, or test equipment design
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary engineering team and communicate technical information clearly
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing test stands, test harnesses, or automated test equipment
  • Familiarity with RF systems, GPS subsystems, or avionics interfaces
  • Experience with environmental testing (thermal, vibration, shock) and test readiness activities
  • Experience with electrical CAD tools or diagram-generation software
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Self-directed, motivated, and results-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

  • Creation of Electrical Diagrams & Drawings
  • Develop block diagrams, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and assembly drawings.
  • Support diagrams and documentation for electrical power systems, command and control systems, RF systems, and GPS hardware.
  • Design and build test equipment to support avionics box testing in thermal, shock, and vibration environments.
  • Acceptance Test Plans
  • Create verification plans for avionics rack tester equipment.
  • Define and document acceptance tests, including voltage testing, electrical signal characterization, and other performance evaluations.
  • Support execution, troubleshooting, and refinement of test procedures.
  • Procurement Analysis & Tracking
  • Utilize existing tools and infrastructure to track purchase orders and procurement status for tester hardware.
  • Analyze supplier viability with respect to ITAR compliance, cost projections, and schedule adherence to hardware need dates.
  • Create tracking tools, tables, or supporting documentation required for procurement and supplier analysis.
