About The Position

Power Solutions International (PSI) is a leading manufacturer of emissions-certified powertrains specializing in customized and fully integrated turnkey solutions for the leading global equipment manufacturers in the industrial, transportation, and energy markets manufacturers. Position Summary: Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, the Test Engineering Technician II supports the engine calibration and test engineering teams to develop and execute tests, install and operate test articles and equipment, and collect data associated with engine calibration development, engine validation testing, and component testing. This would include instrumenting, installing, operating and testing engines and vehicles in laboratory and in-vehicle or equipment, and preparing data for engineering teams. In addition, the individual will perform first level data quality review and reduce the data using established tools into charts and graphs to effectively communicate results to internal customers. The Test Technician will assist in the standardization of testing methods and establish best practices. This will include developing guidelines to document department test procedures. The Test Technician will look to streamline the test set up and overall workflow through the lab by standardizing test fixturing. The individual in this position will maintain the testing equipment and perform schedule maintenance.

Requirements

  • Two-year technical degree in automotive technology or a related field preferred. May substitute direct applicable work experience on a year-for-year basis which built competencies and expertise with internal combustion engine testing, development and/or automotive testing diagnostics.
  • Established capability to understand electronic control systems and DC electrical systems, reading and interpreting electrical schematics and diagrams with proven ability to use basic electronic and mechanical diagnostic tools, follow trouble shooting diagrams and interrogate diagnostic codes.
  • Tech savvy with Microsoft Office specifically Excel.
  • Must be self-directed, motivated, and detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Work well within a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • ASE or other similar certifications
  • Experience with testing automation software and interfacing with data acquisition systems
  • Skilled at MIG, TIG, acetylene welding and fabrication of steel and stainless steel

Responsibilities

  • Leads the setup and instrumentation of the test article.
  • Leads in the fabrication of test fixtures, mounting and adapting hardware, and fluid systems for installation of equipment and test articles.
  • Leads the installation of test articles (engines and components) onto test stands.
  • Leads the installation, maintenance, and calibration of testing equipment.
  • Leads the installation and maintenance of facility equipment.
  • Assist in the diagnosis and troubleshooting engine, electrical, and test cell instrumentation during test programs.
  • Submit timely and concise test reports including test set up, testing methods and data summary.
  • Develop or make recommendations on test procedures and specifications.
  • All other duties assigned by management
