About The Position

A Principal Development Test Engineer is responsible for test development for validation, characterization, and qualification of new products and technology produced by Frontgrade. This role includes the specification, design, development, debug, verification, and release of new test solutions (hardware, software, and documentation) for integrated circuits, single board computers, module and box level systems. The position is located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Eletrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Related Field of Study
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in test development for integrated circuits, circuit card assemblies/modules/boxes.
  • OR (12) years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree.
  • OR (6) years of experience may be considered w/ a Masters Degree.
  • OR (3) years of experience may be considered w/ a PhD.
  • 6 years of experience developing test software (GUI driven applications that exercise test equipment to verify end products) using National Instruments LabView, C, C++, Python, or other programming languages.
  • 6 years of experience using lab test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, bit error rate testers, network analyzers, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of electronics including the ability to generate/read schematics, assembly drawings, and parts lists.
  • Working knowledge of software engineering concepts.
  • Knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout tools like PADs or Expedition.
  • Knowledge of automated test equipment and test solutions.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by either ITAR or EAR U.S. export laws. As a condition to this job offer, in order to be employed in this position, you must be able to obtain an U.S. Government export license(s), as required by law.

Responsibilities

  • Develop test plans, hardware, software, and documentation for characterization and production test of integrated circuits and circuit card assemblies/modules/boxes.
  • Analyze data sheets, specifications, and other documentation to identify test requirements.
  • Coordinate with designers, systems engineers, and manufacturing to develop test plans.
  • Design, model, build, debug, and verify physical hardware for test fixtures, test interfaces, and STE.
  • Design and develop automated test software/programs.
  • Integrate and operate a variety of lab equipment for test and debug purposes.
  • Leverage knowledge to improve team proficiency and efficiency.
  • Assist and mentor junior engineers as appropriate.
  • Collaborate in team meetings and activities.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives in the work area as well as events in other areas to enhance cross-functional problem solving.
  • Participate in safety training and actively comply with safety policies and practices; maintain a clean and safe workstation.
