About The Position

The Test Engineer II supports the verification and validation of ASI's autonomous robotic systems by executing structured testing activities, analyzing system performance data, and contributing to system readiness evaluations. This role focuses on validating robotic system functionality across component, subsystem, and full system testing environments. As a Level II engineer, this position collaborates with cross-functional engineering teams to implement test plans, collect and analyze data, and identify system issues discovered during testing. The role contributes to improving test processes and helps ensure autonomous systems perform safely and reliably in real-world environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 3–6 years of experience in test engineering, system validation, robotics testing, or related engineering roles
  • Experience developing or executing test plans for complex systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to system testing and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with scripting or programming languages such as Python or C++
  • Experience working with version control systems such as Git
  • Ability to interpret engineering requirements and technical documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills when presenting test results

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with robotics systems or autonomous vehicles
  • Familiarity with ROS or ROS2 frameworks
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or simulation testing environments
  • Experience using data analysis tools or scripting for test automation
  • Familiarity with engineering tools such as Jira, JAMA, or similar tracking systems

Responsibilities

  • Execute validation testing for robotic and autonomous vehicle systems
  • Develop and maintain structured test plans, test cases, and validation procedures
  • Collaborate with systems, software, and mechatronics engineers to understand system requirements and test objectives
  • Perform testing in laboratory, simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and field testing environments
  • Collect and analyze system performance data during validation activities
  • Identify unexpected system behaviors or failures and assist with root cause analysis
  • Document test results and communicate findings to engineering teams
  • Support regression testing during software releases and system updates
  • Assist with instrumentation setup and test environment preparation
  • Contribute to improvements in test processes, test automation, and validation methodologies
