About The Position

The Eastern Territorial Headquarters has an opening for a Territorial Pathway of Hope (POH) Coordinator. This position will advance the vision and long-term growth of the POH initiative by guiding implementation and territorial expansion. This role strengthens The Salvation Army’s integrated Christian ministry by ensuring consistent application of POH principles across the territory, while fostering innovation, promoting best practices, and aligning efforts with the mission and strategic priorities, and long-term planning of the organization. This position, based in West Nyack, NY requires approximately 35 hours of work per week and is onsite.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Requires commitment to biblical Christian principles and teachings as they influence the regard for the individual, the delivery of services in a respectful and compassionate manner, and a hope for future restoration and change of individuals, families, and communities. A commitment to serve mankind within a framework of justice and dignity, along with an understanding of the challenge of advocacy and marginalized segments of society.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of Social Service Program Administration including laws and regulations governing social services agencies (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Knowledge of relevant psychological and sociological, evidence-based practice and its effective application (e.g., client-centered counseling, family systems theory, motivational interviewing, stages of change, strengths-based practice, etc.).
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective policy, report, and technical writing including documents for publication.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and communicate appropriately at all levels within and outside of the organization to educate and influence others to achieve desired results of social service programs and enhance/emphasize the mission of The Salvation Army.
  • Knowledge of acceptable practices for soliciting, administering, and managing private, foundation, corporate and government funds and ensuring funds acquired through grants and contracts are properly secured, reported, managed, and protected to maximize funding opportunities for The Salvation Army throughout the territory.
  • Ability to serve as a technical expert, resource, and liaison to administration at the territorial and divisional level, as well as to local units.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English that is adequate for functioning in an English-speaking context.
  • Comfortability in the effective training of personnel in both in-person and remote contexts.
  • Experience in preparing and delivering engaging and effective oral presentations to a range of audiences, utilizing relevant communication technology.
  • Knowledge of social service program delivery, case management practices, and evidence-based approaches (e.g., motivational interviewing, stages of change, client-centered planning).
  • Familiarity with POH-specific platforms such as Community Services (WellSky) and reporting systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with divisional staff, officers, and territorial departments.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Zoom, SurveyMonkey, and other collaborative tools.
  • Ability to communicate the vision of POH clearly and persuasively at all levels, inspiring alignment and commitment across the territory.
  • Ability to contribute to strategic planning processes by synthesizing data, trends, and field insights into actionable recommendations.
