The Terminal Manager is responsible and accountable for the overall profitability, financial soundness, safety, and operational development of a trucking terminal. This role involves directing and coordinating terminal activities, collaborating with subordinate management in formulating administrative and operational policies and procedures, and ensuring the optimum use of equipment, facilities, personnel, and training. The manager analyzes financial and operations reports to determine requirements for increasing profits and assists in the development of annual budgets. They approve requisitions for equipment, materials, and supplies within the limits of the operations budget and enforce strict compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and governmental and environmental policies. The position also includes directing investigations into customer or shipper complaints, regularly reviewing operational records and regulations to detect deviations, and preparing directives to eliminate infractions. Additionally, the Terminal Manager reviews shipper’s accounts for problems like overdue accounts and provides oversight for shop maintenance/operations to ensure adherence to company policy for maintenance, housekeeping, and safety, including preventative maintenance on all equipment. This role requires being on-call 24/7 for Terminal/Dispatch support and responding onsite 24/7 to emergencies and job incidents, as well as performing Driver Observations (IPO’s).
