About The Position

Join the Department of Languages as a full-time, one-year, Term Assistant Professor, specializing in two languages: French and a second language from either German, Japanese, or Spanish. Teach engaging courses, including French courses at all levels, elementary, intermediate, and advanced courses in either German, Japanese, or Spanish, and culture/ topic courses in English. The Department of Languages at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) invites applications for a Term Assistant Professor of Languages with a specialty in French. The Department of Languages offers a baccalaureate degree with a primary emphasis in German, Japanese, and Spanish and minor degrees in French, German, Japanese, Spanish, and Cultural Perspectives. Additionally, the department offers ASL and Russian language courses. Knowledge of innovative teaching practice. Native or near-native proficiency in French, English and a second language (German, Japanese, or Spanish), and native or near-native proficiency in English. Readiness to participate in outreach and recruitment efforts.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in language, literature, culture studies or closely related field by the time of appointment.
  • Disciplinary expertise in language, culture, and literature studies or related discipline.
  • Evidence of college/university level teaching experience.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in French, English and a second language (German, Japanese, or Spanish).
