About The Position

The Department of Security Studies and International Affairs (SSIA) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, FL., invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Cyber Strategy. The successful candidate should have experience in one or more of the following cyber disciplines: strategy, policy, information operations, irregular warfare, and/or strategic competition below the threshold of armed conflict. The successful candidate will contribute to SSIA’s interdisciplinary Homeland Security & Intelligence program, which encompasses areas such as critical infrastructure protection, intelligence analysis, and strategic competition short of war. Primary tasks include undergraduate teaching and research, student advising, and relationship building with external organizations and agencies. The position requires teaching flexibility to cover a variety of courses in cyberspace strategy, cyberspace law, cyber-enabled influence operations, cyber resilience and resistance, introduction to cyberspace operations and terminology, and cyber tools and tradecraft. Other essential duties include scholarship, professional development, committee participation, and other activities designed to support the SSIA Department. About the Department of Security Studies and International Affairs The SSIA Department is one of five departments in the College of Arts & Sciences. In addition to the HSI degree, the department offers a B.S. in Global Conflict Studies. One of several minors offered by the department is Cybersecurity Application & Management. The department supports a Homeland Security track in the Math department's Master's in Data Science as well as offers courses to graduate students in the department of Human Factors. Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in one of the preferred disciplines: Cyber Policy, Strategic Studies, Intelligence Studies, International Relations, and Communication Studies
  • A record of academic publishing related to the applicant's discipline
  • Grant proposal development
  • Applicants should submit a c.v., transcripts, a statement on teaching philosophy, and a 5-year research plan that lists forthcoming publications and potential grant ideas

Nice To Haves

  • Real-world experience in Special Operations, CYBERCOM, the Intelligence Community, or related organizations
  • An exceptional candidate who is ABD (with an expected completion date within six months of the hire date) that has demonstrated research promise will be considered
