About The Position

Texas A&M University–San Antonio invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computer Information Systems in the Department of Accounting and Finance within the College of Business. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Computer Information Systems or in a closely related field. We seek applicants with strong potential for scholarly research and high-quality publications, as well as excellence in teaching and program development. Primary teaching responsibility will be the Computer Information Systems courses in the BBA-CISA program. Candidates whose research and teaching focus on or extend to new and emerging areas of business and information technologies, such as Business Analytics and AI Applications, will be highly valued. The successful candidate will join a growing, student-centered university dedicated to expanding interdisciplinary academic programs and serving a multicultural, first-generation student population. Applicants must demonstrate strong potential for impactful research, evidence of effective teaching, and a commitment to student success.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Information Systems or a closely related field (e.g. Information Science, Data Science, Computer Science).
  • ABD candidates near completion will be considered.
  • Demonstrated potential for scholarly productivity.
  • Evidence of effective teaching or strong promise as an instructor.
  • Commitment to serving a multicultural student body in an institution focused on excellence.

Nice To Haves

  • Research or teaching expertise in one or more of the following areas: Business Analytics, AI Application, Accounting Information System, FinTech, etc.
  • Experience with online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced instruction.
  • Experience working with first-generation students in a Hispanic-Serving Institution.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer Information Systems and related areas.
  • Maintain an active research agenda leading to peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and external funding opportunities.
  • Advise and mentor students, including supervising undergraduate and graduate research.
  • Contribute to program development and curriculum planning and develop new courses aligned with evolving program needs.
  • Engage in departmental service, including committee work and professional, community, and university service consistent with tenure expectations.
