Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Japanese Literature and Culture
About The Position
The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, New Jersey, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor in Japanese Literature and Culture, beginning September 1, 2026. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Japanese with a specialty in literature, cultural studies, film studies, and/or visual cultures. Ph.D. must be completed by the beginning of the appointment (September 1, 2026). All job offers are contingent upon successful pre-employment background screening prior to commencement of employment. The successful candidate will be expected to (1) teach undergraduate courses at all year levels and MA-level seminars; and (2) contribute actively to developing our undergraduate and graduate programs in Japanese and Asian Studies. The standard teaching load is two courses per semester (2-2). Fluency in English and Japanese is required. Requirements
