About The Position

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies (CHBS) at James Madison University (JMU) seeks a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Applicants with expertise across all areas of audiology are encouraged to apply. The qualified candidate will join a thriving and collegial academic unit with 18 full-time faculty and six part-time faculty with additional adjunct and clinical educators as needed. The department serves an average of 320 undergraduate majors and 125 graduate students across multiple degree-granting academic programs (https://csd.jmu.edu/index.html). The department has state-of-the-art audiology and speech-language pathology clinics with rich community outreach. We have a shared vision to be recognized for bridging science and clinical practice. Requirements

A Ph.D. in Audiology, Communication Sciences & Disorders, or related field.
Evidence of independent scholarship based on published works and/or external funding.
Demonstrate potential for quality teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Demonstrate potential to serve the department, college, university, and/or community.
Experience with formal or informal mentoring of students.
A Ph.D. in Audiology, Communication Sciences & Disorders, or related field.
Evidence of substantial scholarship and publication record.
Record of securing research grants and mentoring PhD students.
Evidence of quality teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Evidence of service to the department, college, university, and/or community.
Evidence of leadership skills and experience with formal mentoring of students.

Nice To Haves

Clinical experience is preferred, but certification (CCC-A) and/or eligibility for state licensure are optional.

Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities for the position include teaching, scholarship, and professional, community, and/or university service.
The qualified candidate will teach courses in the Au.D. and undergraduate programs, with opportunities to teach Ph.D. courses.
