About The Position

The Partners Section of the Wildlife Division is primarily responsible for habitat development and restoration efforts, and access programs on privately owned lands.

Requirements

  • 1 year experience OR 1 year coursework/training in fisheries management, natural resources, biology, and/or agriculture.
  • Driver’s license required
  • Knowledge of local agricultural practices/land use as well as basic wildlife habitat management principles, goals and objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work with little supervision and with diverse clientele.
  • Driver’s license required.
  • Computer skills (Excel, Access, GIS) highly desirable

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in wildlife, fisheries, natural resources or biology.

Responsibilities

  • Implement public access program offerings (e.g., Open Fields & Waters). Activities include: Site assessment, contract coordination, reporting and posting signs.
  • Assist biologists with implementation of the Focus on Pheasants (FOP) initiative in southwestern Nebraska (e.g., coordinate tall stubble initiatives, conduct wildlife surveys, etc.).
  • Provide technical assistance of wildlife habitat enhancement techniques to private landowners.
  • Work closely with other conservation organization partners such as Pheasants Forever, Audubon Great Plains, and Bird Conservancy of the Rockies to assist with conservation planning and project design to benefit wildlife.
  • Assist with or coordinate activities and projects within the agency as assigned.
  • As an entry-level position, effort will be made to provide opportunities to collaborate/assist with other divisions to enhance background knowledge and experience within the agency.
