Instruct high school students students in accordance with educational theories and techniques. Develops discipline related curricula, assess student learning, participates in program evaluation, and college activities. Maintains college and department standards in support of the College's mission and strategic plan. Work schedule varies according to teaching assignment. Varies The Upward Bound is a U.S. Department of Education TRIO Program designed to generate in low income, potential first-generation college students the skills and motivation necessary to complete a secondary education and then enter into a post-secondary education and succeed in completing a program of higher education. The Upward Bound emphasizes preparation in English, Math, Foreign Language, and Laboratory Science. Additionally, there are many activities, field trips, college visits, and other experiences designed to help students grow and mature. Position requires a dynamic and highly interactive person to interface with and teach high school students in grades 9th-12th in math to include Algebra I & II, Informal Geometry, Geometry, as well as Pre-Calculus. Instructor will be expected to teach two Saturdays of each month starting approximately October through the end of April. Instructor must complete a course outline for each subject taught and submit that outline at least one-week prior to the commencement of class and submit it to the Upward Bound office. Also, the instructor will be expected to conduct a pre-assessment of students during either the first or no later than the second Saturday class. Certified instructors- $27.00 an hour; and non-certified- $18.21 an hour. Instructor must provide credentials and will be paid monthly for 6-8 hours, a total of four hours for each Saturday session taught, two Saturdays a month. Online and in classroom tutoring sessions may be required 2-3 days a week (days may vary based on student schedule).
