About The Position

This temporary position involves operating, monitoring, and maintaining a safe and healthy aquatic environment at Montgomery College's Rockville and Germantown Campuses. Key duties include performing lifeguard responsibilities, monitoring water chemistry, and ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of the facility, including locker rooms. Staff will also assist with annual pool maintenance tasks such as draining, cleaning, and refilling. The role supports various pool activities and physical education classes by setting up and tearing down rental areas, distributing equipment, and managing facility opening and closing procedures. Additionally, incumbents will provide information to patrons regarding College classes, recreational swim, and rental programs.

Requirements

• Montgomery County Approved: Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR with AED Certifications (for Lifeguards)
• Montgomery County Swimming Pool Operators License and all of the above Lifeguard Certifications (for Pool Operators)
• Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable)
• For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and maintain a healthy and safe aquatic environment/facility for the College community
• Perform lifeguard and related water chemistry monitoring duties, including but not limited to: staffing the sign-desk and “policing” locker rooms
• Perform cleaning and sanitizing duties
• Assist with the annual draining, cleaning and refilling of the swimming pool and other related projects and/or activities
• Support the pool activities and physical education classes utilizing the facility such as setting up and tearing down rental areas, distributing equipment, opening and closing the facility
• Provide information to internal/external patrons concerning College classes and activities, recreational swim and rental programs
