About The Position

The Institute of Arctic Biology is on the lookout for enthusiastic seasonal research technicians to join our team. We need your help in collecting valuable field data for the Bonanza Creek Long Term Ecological Research Program (BNZ LTER). If you're passionate about ecological research and ready for a hands-on experience in the beautiful Arctic environment, we invite you to be part of our motivated team. Let's explore and contribute to the fascinating world of long-term ecological research together. If you're passionate about the natural sciences and love the idea of hands-on field experience, we've got an exciting opportunity for you! We're looking for someone with a good grasp of boreal tree species, a high level of physical fitness for navigating rugged terrains, and a positive attitude even during long days in various weather conditions. Camping in the backcountry is part of the gig, so experience in that area is a plus. We need someone who can follow instructions, work both independently and as part of a team, and take responsibility for collecting top-notch data. If you have a background in biology, ecology, forestry, or a related field, and you've got some fieldwork experience under your belt, even better! Basic spreadsheet software skills are a must. If this sounds like your kind of adventure, we'd love to hear from you! To excel in this role, having sufficient experience in ecology, biology, or natural resources is essential to tackle the assigned responsibilities effectively. We especially value candidates who bring additional experience in handling field logistics, particularly in remote settings. If you're someone with a strong background in the sciences and a knack for navigating logistical challenges in the field, you might be the perfect fit for our team. Minimum Qualifications: Before joining our team, candidates are required to provide proof of a valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria. Additionally, we're looking for individuals with either educational qualifications or practical field experience in ecology, biology, or natural resources. If you have the knowledge and skills in these areas and can also meet the necessary driving requirements, we'd love to hear from you. Position Details: This position is on the UA Fairbanks campus in LTER Bonanza Creek. Work will be on-site and field. This is a temporary, full-time position.
