About The Position

The Price Institute of Surgical Research has five Temporary Research Technician I positions available to support research studying colorectal cancer and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. A successful candidate will work independently, but under general supervision, to execute a variety of routine and non-routine experiments at a professional level. In collaboration with other members of the research team. Excellent organizational and communication skills and ability to work with a highly interactive group is required. These positions are part time with a 30 hours per week schedule.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills and ability to work with a highly interactive group is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine experiments, which are moderate to complex. Tests may include those involving RNA and protein extractions, PCR, Western blotting, and other basic biochemical tests.
  • Calculate, transcribe, and analyze data which requires a high degree of computer literacy.
  • May maintain long-term tissue cultures of rodent or human cell lines and monitor cells for viability and contamination.
  • Perform literature searches and help to prepare presentations and written articles for publication.
  • Coordinate schedule of tests and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.
