About The Position

This position, under the general supervision of the Director of Public Safety Operations and Administration, provides a variety of administrative and specialized office functions in support of the Transportation and Parking Services division. This position will manage customer service related inquiries and tasks related to parking permits including all associated paperwork, organization, reconciliation of finances, and communications. This position will be staffed at the Public Safety Reception Center and will assist/train the Community Service Officers. This position will also provide direct support in monitoring the [email protected] general inbox and answering the Reception Center phone line. This position involves the use of business applications including T2 Flex, T2 Iris, Microsoft Office 365 Suite, Perceptive Content (ImageNow), and various other software applications. This position will interact and maintain constant contact with various campus personnel including staff, faculty and students, and members of the public. This is a part-time temporary position through June 30, 2026. The position works an intermittent hourly schedule that is provided ahead of time. Under the administration of the Associate Vice President of Public Safety, the Public Safety Department is responsible for the safety, health and well-being of the university community. The Public Safety Department consists of five divisions; the Cal Poly Police Department managed by the Chief of Police; Cal Poly Maritime Police Department managed by the Deputy Chief of Police; the Department of Emergency Management managed by the Executive Director of Public Safety and the Department of Emergency Management; Transportation and Parking Services managed by the Director of Transportation and Parking Services; and Business Services managed by the Director of Public Safety Operations and Administration. This position falls under the Business Services unit.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a very high level of diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
  • Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing.
  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Type 45 wpm.
  • Four years of general office support or technical experience. (Training at a vocational school or full-time college education may be substituted for the years of the required experience on the basis of one year or college education for 6 months of experience).
  • Possession of a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
