About The Position

Standardized Patients/Patient Actors assist with pharmacy and medical simulation labs in the Bouve College of Health Sciences. The major responsibility of this position is to portray all the characteristics of a real patient, simulating specific emotions, behaviors and disease symptoms while engaging in patient-provider role-playing with health professions students, enabling students to practice necessary skills and behaviors in labs and other simulated learning experiences. Standardized Patients must be on campus to assist during scheduled times. Standardized Patients are utilized during the fall, spring, and summer terms, typically between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm, Monday through Friday. Standardized Patients may be scheduled to work one or multiple activities and typically work between two and eight hours during an activity. Qualifications: Excellent English oral and written communication skills required. Excellent attention to detail. Able to recall case information as cued by students in role-play situations. Able to solve problems and work well under pressure. Willing to work an intermittent schedule as needed.
