The Machine Operator I will perform all processing steps necessary for the flow of product through the Kiln work cell; ensure product quality and adherence to appropriate processing standards; and assist and instruct other departmental employees as directed. This role is based at our facility in Tucson, AZ. The temporary assignment is through January 2026. Schedule: Monday - Friday, 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM. You will have the opportunity to: Comply with all PPE and job- or area-specific workplace safety requirements Properly use lockout/tagout procedures Test fire and check pressed parts, dye check parts to determine quality and make necessary adjustments Work effectively with QC/QA personnel to improve output capability and quality Competently operate all essential machines and/or equipment in the work cell Help evaluate equipment tooling if necessary Identify and actively participate in continuous improvements of safety, quality, and production Maintain or exceed standard production rates Monitor all kiln firing processes, intervene as needed to ensure superior firing results Perform all required tasks at a high level of performance Plan, schedule production employee training on using SAP for production Safely and properly perform power checks, change glow bars as needed Train other employees on proper equipment operation and/or setup Troubleshoot general problems in the area including machine or equipment problems as needed Work with minimal direct supervision, work from establish procedures but use reasoning skills to resolve problems Work effectively in a team environment, think creatively, problem solve, work safely

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of one year experience with work cell-specific machines and equipment
  • Knowledge of product quality concepts and ISO principles
  • Can use a variety of inspection and measuring tools and techniques, including comparators if necessary
  • Technical awareness, able to work with data analysis and problem-solving techniques
