About The Position

Short Term temporary LANDSCAPING - FACILITIES MAINTENANCE WORKER Bring your experience with general landscaping and minor repairs to support the Facilities group maintaining grounds and playgrounds for early childhood education programs. We have 12 sites throughout Clackamas County. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: Supports the Facilities Management team to conduct day-to-day facilities functions including landscaping, minor construction and renovation projects, repairs, replacements, inspections, moving furniture and supplies, and similar duties, in compliance with all safety protocols, applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies and procedures. REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager Bilingual add to pay of $.35/hour

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED or Equivalent, or ability to obtain GED within 18 months
  • Competent in the use of basic landscaping, construction and maintenance tools
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately communicate with co-workers, vendors, clients, and the relevant community
  • Ability to possess and operate a computer and work cell phone for communication, project management, data entry, research, information retrieval, and timekeeping
  • Ability to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and personal automobile insurance
  • Ability to safely and responsibly operate Agency vehicles
  • Ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record that is acceptable to the Agency’s insurance company
  • Ability to positively interact with children, families, staff, and vendors from various cultures, race, family structure, gender, age, sexuality, ability, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team
  • Ability to work independently and maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Maintain compliance with State of Oregon Criminal Background Registry
  • Maintain current Pediatric/Adult First Aid/CPR/AED certification
  • Ability to pass a health and drug screen
  • In order to best protect children, families, and staff from COVID-19 we require COVID -19 vaccination and booster for all staff, with exemptions for medical or religious reasons.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and a physical, which will test for: Ability to, without assistance, consistently lift, push, pull, or carry items up to 75 pounds Ability to, along with assistance, occasionally move items over 75 pounds; seldomly moving any items over 100 pounds Ability to crouch, bend, kneel, sit, stand, twist, and reach
  • Movement throughout multiple work locations in different buildings. Will need to be able to travel to a city or town other than assigned office at headquarters
  • Stand or sit at a workstation frequently during each shift
  • Regular crouching, bending, kneeling, standing, twisting, reaching, climbing, work from ladders at various heights, and operate a variety of hand and power tools. Occasionally work in confined spaces or under other adverse conditions. Be prepared to respond quickly to emergencies and complete work under pressure often to meet critical time frames and deadlines
  • Regular work in outdoor settings and in inclement weather.
  • Push or pull a cart or hand truck. Attach and operate trailer of work truck

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one year of landscaping and/or handyperson experience is preferred
  • Strong knowledge and skills in landscaping duties, repair and maintenance of such equipment used. Minor handyperson knowledge, to include some minor plumbing and electrical abilities, is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform landscaping duties at the Centers we are currently responsible for and make recommendations to Facilities Manager for improvements. These duties include mowing, trimming, planting, re-planting, foliage/rock/tree assembling, irrigation equipment maintenance, bioswale/storm drain maintenance at Admin Building, cedar chips and other playground requirements and cleanliness at all centers for continual licensing compliance
  • Appropriately maintain assigned facilities and landscaping equipment per schedule
  • Complete assigned internal work order requests and follow department communication procedure, maintaining status updates up until completion of assignments
  • Collaborate and communicate with CCCC staff, vendors, contractors, and community partners on projects related to facilities and maintenance
  • At the direction of the Facilities Manager, take the lead on ensuring various projects are effectively executed with vendors and contractors
  • Perform minor handyperson repairs or replacements to include, but not limited to, basic framing, drywall, painting, plumbing, electrical fixtures, and bulb replacement.
  • Move office furniture and classroom furniture/supplies within and between centers and other agency facilities, to support staff changes, remodels, and program expansion
