The UT Soil, Plant, & Pest Center Temporary Lab Assistant is directly responsible to the Laboratory Director. This is an on-site Monday through Friday position with working hours between 8 and 5 pm. Hours per week will vary with sample demand but may range from 6 to 20+ hours per week. This appointment will end on May 31st, 2026 or 200 worked hours, whichever comes first. This position will prepare soils, or forages for testing. This involves lining up samples, giving them lab numbers, grinding samples, and cleaning lab ware. This position will aid in mixing chemical agents and entry level analysis under supervision. Office tasks may be performed as needed, such as receipting payment, or entering sample information into a lab information management system.
