About The Position

The Nursing Program at Greenville Technical College's School of Health and Sciences is committed to providing a quality educational program. The Nursing Program, which is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), enrolls more than 350 students in its Associate Degree in Nursing Program and employs 25 full-time nursing faculty members. The mission of the Nursing Program is dedicated to the preparation of individuals to meet the healthcare needs of the public. Graduate nurses will be able to use essential knowledge, attitudes, skills, and technology to meet the healthcare needs of patients, families, and communities while recognizing the need for an individualized plan of care. Faculty, as both nurses and educators, believe that nurses provide patient-centered care with quality and safety to improve, maintain, and restore the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. Faculty members strive to incorporate essential competencies for nurse educators while preparing graduates who will become the future of the nursing profession. In this challenging role, you will support the Nursing department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following:

Requirements

  • Current, unencumbered, active RN license in South Carolina or another compact state
  • BSN
  • At least five (5) years in an acute care specialty nursing setting with a strong clinical background
  • Have been actively involved in providing direct nursing care in an acute care setting within the past two (2) years.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching experience in a nursing program and experience in specialty nursing practice area (Pediatric, Maternal -Child, or Mental Health Nursing).

Responsibilities

  • Assist students in the clinical learning environment to acquire knowledge, psychomotor skills, and affective skills necessary to pass the licensure exam and entry to practice
  • Collaborates with Course Coordinator/ Team Leader to ensure teaching and learning activities meet course objectives.
  • Facilitates appropriate clinical experiences in specialty areas including Pediatrics, Mental Health, and/or Maternal-Child nursing.
  • Appropriately refers students to available resources to ensure student success.
  • Effectively evaluates students in the clinical learning environment.
  • Provides prompt/timely feedback of written work.
  • Maintains up-to-date mandatory requirements outlined by the Nursing Department.
  • Participates in professional development activities to maintain a nursing license.
  • Role models professional behaviors with other faculty, nursing staff, patients, significant others, and students.
