About The Position

Under supervision of the County Road Superintendent and County Engineer, is responsible for performing general labor-type duties, hand and power tool operation, and intermediate level truck and equipment operation on various road and bridge projects.

Requirements

• Requires two (2) years of experience in the operation of variable types of highway maintenance tools and equipment, and general labor skills.
• Applicant must be 18 years of age or above with a valid Class D driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Candidates must successfully complete a standard background and criminal record check along with an alcohol and controlled substance test and physical exam.
• Costs associated with these exams will be paid for by the County.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to highway maintenance crew with general labor duties.
• Asphalt patching, flagging, hand grading and weed cutting.
• Operate tractors equipped with mowers, disks and other attachment; operate other light and medium duty equipment including pavers, compactors and loaders.
• Perform preventative maintenance and upkeep of equipment.
• Observe established safety practices and procedures when working with equipment.
• Perform other duties as required and assigned.
