About The Position

Northwest Technical College (NTC) invites applicants to join our team as a Temporary One Year Cosmetology Faculty member. The mission of NTC’s Cosmetology program is to provide hands-on experiences on the salon clinic floor. Students apply skills learned in courses using the equipment, technology, products and services necessary to be successful in the salon and spa industries. Responsibilities of the Cosmetology Faculty member include: Providing instruction in the Cosmetology programs. Developing curriculum, course outlines, and program sequence. Being flexible and wanting to grow with our cosmetology students and programs. Engaging in the established curriculum and course outlines. Striving to incorporate evidence-based practice and participating in continual quality improvement. Maintaining and submitting necessary student records according to published guidelines. Participating in professional development, advisory board meetings, student and other educational activities in accordance with college policies. Contributing to a program of scholarship within the discipline, student advising, service to the College and community, and other associated faculty duties.

Requirements

  • Education Requirement Diploma in cosmetology.
  • Occupational Experience Requirement Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a cosmetologist.
  • Recency Requirement One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
  • Professional Requirement Cosmetology instructor license from the Minnesota Board of Cosmetology Examiners.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Practice Esthetician certification preferred.
  • Face-to-face teaching in the classroom, lab or clinical setting.
  • Teaching in a two-year post-secondary setting.
  • Experience with curriculum development.
  • Professional communication skills.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
