Temporary Faculty Pool Department of Teacher Education College of Education Position Description The Department of Teacher Education at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), invites highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized, applicants for a pool of part-time teaching appointments. For more information see: https://www.csudh.edu/coe/programs/teacher-education/ The Position The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.

Requirements

  • Required degree (MA/MS or doctorate in education or related field for teaching courses and Bachelor’s degree and appropriate credential for supervision)
  • For most credential courses and supervision courses this includes a minimum of three-five years of PK-12 experience with linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse students.
  • Supervisors must hold a valid Teaching or Administrative Credential
  • Applicants must have experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
  • Applicants will be required to disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years only after a determination is made that they meet the minimum qualifications for the position, and before an offer of employment is extended.
  • Applicants who reach the final stages of the application process must also sign a release form that authorizes the release of information by the applicant’s current and/or former employers to the CSU concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
  • Prior college-level teaching experience
  • A doctorate in education or related discipline

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned upper division courses in the department’s curriculum or supervising student teachers and university interns and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
  • Demonstrating and employing digital tools that enhance learning in all courses
  • Collaborating with faculty and public school partners in the development, review, and assessment
  • Assisting with promoting Teacher Education programs and recruiting students.
