For more information see: https://csudh.edu/coe/ The Position The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in cognate field or related discipline and prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience.
  • Education Specialists applicants must have P- 12 teaching experience working with students with disabilities.
  • PK-3 Early Childhood Education Specialists Applicants must have Pk-3 teaching experience.
  • Applications must have appropriate teaching credential, administrative credential or significant experience in related field.
  • Applicants must have experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
  • Applicants will be required to disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years only after a determination is made that they meet the minimum qualifications for the position, and before an offer of employment is extended.
  • Applicants who reach the final stages of the application process must also sign a release form that authorizes the release of information by the applicant’s current and/or former employers to the CSU concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct

Nice To Haves

  • A Ph.D. in Special Education, Early Childhood, Child Development or related discipline and prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience is required for teaching upper-division core courses (300- or 400-level).

Responsibilities

  • Teaching university coursework specific to best pedagogical practices for students with disabilities, assessment and instructional strategies with an emphasis in reading and/or math
  • Supervising student teachers and interns in field experiences across various special education settings for students with mild to moderate disabilities
  • Evaluating progress of students in credential programs leading to the preliminary Educational Specialists Credential in Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Severe. Early Childhood Special Education or the PK-3 Credential and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
