About The Position

Human Development and Family Sciences in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Delaware invites applications for a Temporary Faculty position in Early Childhood Education (ECE) to begin Fall 2026. We seek an energetic, highly motivated, and experienced professional who will serve as a role model and mentor for undergraduate and graduate Early Childhood Education students. As a temporary 9-month faculty member, the successful candidate will primarily teach undergraduate AA and BS early childhood courses. This is a 9-month full-time appointment beginning September 1, 2026.

Requirements

  • A doctorate or ABD with a dissertation near completion in early childhood education, early childhood special education, or related field is required.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching certification in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education, and a minimum of three years of successful teaching experience at the early childhood level (birth through 8 years) is preferred.
  • Teaching experience in higher education, knowledge of early childhood educator development, and teacher education program accreditation processes is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate AA and BS courses in ECE in the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences.
  • Teach a variety of in-person and online ECE foundational courses in the major such as infants and toddler development, child development, ECE curriculum and instruction (e.g. math, social studies, literacy), assessment, and/or disabilities, and/or familiarity with supporting field experience.
  • Be a contributing member of the department, the ECE committee, and will engage in teaching and service duties while supporting the department’s ECE mission.
