About The Position

This is a temporary position at the University of Pennsylvania, working with an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at the School of Medicine and an Associate Director of Translational Medicine. The laboratory focuses on studying the immune system, emerging infectious diseases, and rare rheumatic diseases, with a major emphasis on understanding how interferons regulate immune responses. Experiments often involve animal models of human disease, including studies of viruses and animals with mutations in genes encoding viral nucleic acid sensors. This role will specifically concentrate on screening inhibitors and degraders, as well as performing mouse work.

Requirements

  • Prior laboratory experience
  • Experience with laboratory research animals

Responsibilities

  • Screening inhibitors and degraders.
  • Isolation of infected tissues from mice.
  • Genotyping of mice.
  • Performing mutagenesis, quantitative PCR and transient transfection assays.
  • Cloning and molecular biology techniques.
  • Isolation and culture of primary cells.
  • Preparation of virus stocks.
  • Virus infections of primary cells and mice.
  • Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
  • Preparing reagents.
  • Maintaining records.
  • General lab duties.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
