About The Position

The Temporary Election Services Office Assistant for the Candidate Services division will support County candidate filings, as well as a broad range of customer-focused administrative duties, lobby management, and counting signatures. This role is crucial for helping candidates and stakeholders navigate the filing process. Maricopa County Elections serves over 2.5 million registered voters as they exercise their right to make informed decisions regarding the selection of local and national leaders and ballot measures. Requirements

  • Six (6) months of clerical and/or customer service experience in a public-facing office or lobby setting
  • High school diploma or GED
  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
  • Must be a registered voter, or have the ability to become a registered voter, in the State of Arizona by the time of hire
  • Must pass an applicable background screening
  • Must be able to work overtime as necessary

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of clerical and/or customer service experience in a public-facing office or lobby setting
  • One or more years of administrative support experience

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service to candidates and candidate representatives
  • Explains procedures and policies, and assists guests with filing the proper paperwork in a timely manner
  • Accepts, verifies completion of candidate nomination forms, and counts signatures
  • Performs data entry of candidate names and signature totals
  • Files paperwork and updates lists for each file to maintain organized records
  • Maintains visitor logs, greets visitors, and manages visitor flow and wait time
  • Scans and files digital records
  • Provides general information to the public and answers phone calls
  • Assists with other daily functions and activities of the Candidate Services Division, and other job duties as assigned
