About The Position
We’re looking for a Temporary Building Substitute Teacher to support general education classrooms in a K to 12 school setting. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with students, can confidently manage a classroom, and is comfortable adapting to different teaching situations. Some days you may step into a classroom where lesson plans are already prepared. Other times, you may be assigned to a classroom for a longer period and develop lessons that align with curriculum goals. Either way, you’ll play an important role in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment for students.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, especially in education or behavior management
- College coursework in education, child development, or behavior management required
- Ohio Substitute Teacher License required, or ability to quickly obtain one
- Prior experience working in a school setting required
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and school staff
- Comfort using computers and web based tools such as Microsoft Office and Google applications
Responsibilities
- Manage classroom behavior and create a structured, positive learning environment
- Follow existing lesson plans or develop lessons aligned with curriculum goals when needed
- Deliver instruction that supports general education learning objectives
- Use classroom management and de escalation strategies to support student behavior
- Incorporate technology and teaching resources into lessons
- Assess student academic progress and assign grades when responsible for a classroom
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, or other school activities as needed
- Perform other duties that support classroom instruction and school operations
