About The Position

The Temporary Accounting Specialist will support key finance initiatives over a six-month period, focusing on audit preparation, sales tax documentation, system clean-up, and tariff cost recovery. This role requires strong attention to detail, experience in accounts receivable, and familiarity with sales tax compliance systems. The specialist will help maintain accurate financial records, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance with audit and tax requirements.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of accounting, accounts receivable, or tax-related experience.
  • Experience supporting audits or financial documentation requests.
  • Experience managing or reviewing sales tax exemption certificates.
  • Familiarity with sales tax automation systems such as Avalara.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with sales tax compliance or indirect tax processes.
  • Prior experience with audit preparation or tax documentation management.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation and documentation for the California audit, including gathering financial records, reconciling data, and responding to audit support requests.
  • Review, organize, and maintain Sales Tax Exemption Certificates within the Accounts Receivable process.
  • Perform sales tax certificate clean-up and validation in Avalara, ensuring records are accurate and compliant.
  • Identify and track tariff-related charges and assist with recoupment of costs through customer billing adjustments or documentation support.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance with audit and tax requirements.
  • Provide additional accounting support as needed during the project period.
