About The Position

We are seeking a Temporary Outreach & Engagement Specialist to support community outreach efforts and job readiness workshops across the Midlands region. This position will focus on expanding awareness of WIOA workforce services, delivering employment workshops, and building relationships with community partners, particularly in rural areas defined by the Midlands Workforce Development Board.

Requirements

• Strong presentation and public speaking skills, including the ability to present using PowerPoint or other presentation tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for creating presentations, tracking outreach activities, and preparing workshop materials.
• Experience facilitating workshops or presenting to groups.
• Outgoing, friendly, and engaging personality with strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to professionally represent the WIOA program in community settings.
• Professional appearance and attire appropriate for workshops, meetings, and community events.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to travel within the Midlands region for outreach events and workshops.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in workforce development, education, community outreach, or human services preferred.
• Familiarity with WIOA programs is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Present information about WIOA services and SC Works programs to community organizations and partners.
• Plan and facilitate workshops for job seekers, including: Resume writing Interview preparation Job search strategies Workplace professionalism and soft skills
• Conduct at least 8 workshops in rural areas (as defined by the Midlands Workforce Development Board) by May 22, 2026.
• Reach out to school districts, Adult Education programs, and other community partners by phone or email to coordinate and schedule workshop opportunities.
• Attend community events, job fairs, and meetings to build relationships with employers, school districts, Adult Education programs, and other community partners.
• Promote awareness of SC Works services and connect job seekers with workforce programs and resources.
• Maintain records of outreach activities, workshops delivered, and community engagement efforts.
• Work collaboratively with WIOA staff to support outreach and performance goals.
