About The Position

The Teller position is responsible for performing routine branch and customer service duties, including accepting deposits, processing loan payments, cashing checks, and promoting bank services. The role requires compliance with bank policies and applicable regulations while maintaining good customer relations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and 1+ years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience in cash handling and/or customer service.
  • Basic knowledge of branch operation activities, terminology, and products.
  • Understanding of state and federal banking compliance regulations.
  • Basic computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Basic math skills for calculations and balancing accounts.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with general supervision and handle routine problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the financial industry or related curriculum.
  • Formal training in customer service or cash handling.

Responsibilities

  • Receive retail and commercial checking and savings deposits, ensuring all necessary documents are in proper form and issuing receipts.
  • Cash checks, process savings withdrawals, and make cash advances, confirming all necessary documents are properly authorized.
  • Operate computer terminal or personal computer to process account activity, determine balances, and resolve problems.
  • Issue official checks and process change orders and deposit slip corrections.
  • Assist with night depository duties, including logging bags and processing deposits.
  • Cross-sell the Bank's products and services, referring customers to appropriate staff.
  • Perform safe deposit duties by controlling access and assisting customers.
  • Receive and process stop payment and hold orders, and accept loan payments.
  • Balance cash drawer daily and verify cash returned to the vault.
  • Provide effective customer service and assist in resolving problems.
  • Record, file, update information, and sort mail or reports as required.
  • Answer telephones and direct callers to proper Bank personnel.
  • Gather data and process various reports as needed.
  • Assist in opening and closing the vault, and balancing vault currency and coin.
  • Type routine letters, reports, and forms, and maintain files and supplies.
