About The Position

A Teller at Canandaigua National Bank is a key customer-facing role, responsible for traditional banking tasks like accepting deposits, cashing checks, and managing a cash drawer accurately and efficiently. Beyond transactional duties, Tellers are expected to build, grow, and retain customer relationships by providing friendly and courteous service, answering questions, and making recommendations for banking options based on a needs-based approach. The role also involves being on the front lines of fraud and risk management, requiring robust education to abide by current regulations, bank policies, and procedures, while also being trained to identify potential fraud. Requirements

  • A high school diploma or high school equivalency
  • Valid Driver’s License & reliable transportation
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with a PC and associated programs (such as Microsoft Office)
  • Strong customer service/sales experience
  • Cash handling skills
  • Availability to complete the 40-hour training program in its entirety for the first 3 months
  • Availability to work two Saturdays per month

Responsibilities

  • Accept deposits, cash checks, and balance a cash drawer accurately and efficiently
  • Build, grow, and retain customer relationships
  • Provide quality customer service by being friendly and courteous while answering customers’ questions
  • Make recommendations based on the wide range of competitive banking options
  • Abide by current regulations, bank policies, and procedures
  • Keep an eye out for potential fraud
  • Complete 90-day Teller training
  • Maintain impeccable dependability in regards to all scheduled shifts
  • Make qualified customer referrals as part of the Retail Referral program
  • Become proficient in all relevant banking systems as well as retail banking products
  • Make minimal errors with regard to all transactions processed
